Schuylkill County recycling truck rear ends car at changing light

State police say that a Schuylkill County recycling truck slammed into the rear of a passenger vehicle earlier this month at the intersection of Route 61 and Route 443. Authorities say that the driver of a Saturn Ion began to slow down while approaching the intersection in preparation to stop as the traffic signal was changing. The county recycling truck driver failed to slow down behind the Ion, ultimately slamming into the rear of the passenger vehicle.

A passenger who was riding in the back seat of the Ion suffered personal injuries in the car and truck accident. Thankfully, authorities believe (apparently based upon preliminary reports) that the Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania woman injured in the wreck suffered what appear to be minor injuries.

Truck accidents, including rear-end crashes, can place victims of the wreck at serious risk for injury. Authorities say that a second passenger in the Saturn and each of the drivers escaped injury in the rear-end collision.

Generally, intersection accidents can involve a wide variety of scenarios. It is also important to note that each accident is unique to its own facts. Law enforcement often conducts an investigation after a traffic accident, but the interests of the government investigation may differ from the interest of the accident victims involved in a crash.

It is important for accident victims who suffer serious injury, or the families of accident victims, to consider speaking with legal counsel before accepting a settlement to help protect rights after a crash. An accident victim may be facing long-term medical issues, and a quick settlement may not fully cover the expenses that may be associated with a serious injury.
